Beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows, pool and hot tub was clean, food was good at the bar. Furniture is a little rough, but everything was clean. Stayed 9/10-9/15 in a two queen smoking room. While there are homeless characters hanging around the area, that's not much different than in the blocks closer to the Strip, and I didn't get approached or harassed by 'street-people' during my 5 days at the hotel. The pool (and hot tub) area in the courtyard is very relaxing with ample furniture (lounge chairs, tables and chairs). The breakfast buffet in the hotel is very well set up and reasonably priced at $9.95 pp. There are no safes in the rooms to keep your valuables while away, so best to try take your valuables in a backpack when you leave the room. If you want to book accommodation here, ask for a room as far east as possible to avoid the road noise from Paradise Road: the windows in the rooms are old single pane units and the doors are not well sealed so vehicle noise gets into the rooms day and night.
The room I stayed in could benefit from an occasional 'deep-clean'. I rate it as only one-star accommodation. This hotel is clearly showing its age, with decor that dates back to the seventies.
